Our first Messy Church will be on Saturday 4th February at 10.30am in the Millennium Centre. Come along and join in the fun

At 10.30am on Saturday 4th February, 2012 St. Margaret’s will open the doors of the Millennium Centre for our first “Messy Church” What is Messy Church? – This is what the founder, Lucy Moore has to say:- “Messy Church is one church’s attempt to be church for families who might want to meet Jesus, belong to their local church and bring up their children as Christians but can’t cope with traditional Sunday morning church services. Over 30 churches in the Rochester Diocese now have Messy Church and the P.C.C. thought it about time St. Margaret’s got involved too. But what does “Messy Church” really look like? – over to Lucy Moore:- “The hall is buzzing with conversation. Around a table adults and children burst into laughter as they wrestle with metallic tubing and googly eyes and their teenage helpers despair of ever creating the promised artefact. A toddler slaps green paint on a huge sheet of card under the watchful eye of a Granny (not sure if they’re related or not – it doesn’t really matter). A five-year-old -watches wide-eyed as an enthusiastic leader shows her how to bang in a nail. There’s a delicious smell wafting out of the kitchen. The ten year-olds, intent on their glass-painting, agree it must be jacket potatoes. Two mums catch up on the gossip as they drink welcome cups of tea and slowly decorate gift bags while dad helps the children make something unidentifiable but very chocolaty. One of the mums needs to talk about her problems with her foster children.” Firstly and most importantly, please pray for those working to start up this new venture, and please will you pray that people will come. Messy Church is for all the family to come together for art, crafts, games, music and loads of fun followed by lunch. We will meet on the first Saturday of every month, starting in February. Please join us for this exciting venture. Messy Church will be a hugely exciting adventure for us all and a wonderful opportunity to share our faith and show some of the love of Jesus to our community here in Rainham. Nativity Activity Day

Ninety three parents and Children braved the snow for our Christmas Nativity Activities Day during which the young people were able to enjoy art, craft music and drama. Thanks to Denise and her team – Tom, Felicity, Jan, Robert and Tammy for arranging the day and also to members of the Nemo’s – Robert, Jenny, Victoria, Will, LJ and Robert who came along to help activities and the singing. Be careful what you post…

Many of you will have facebook accounts – very few teenagers seem to be without one. However, how careful are you about what you put on your page? Have a look at two videos which give you an interesting look at the dangers of posting some types of material on the site. Go here and here.

Prayers for the New School Year

As the new school year gets underway, there will probably be all sorts of challenges and issues that you need to overcome. There might well be a fair few things you’d quite like people to pray for.
